And you can quote me on that.

Cutie Pie

So my cat was exuding love molecules this morning.

You know, when you wake up and the cat is all in love with you, falling over upside down waving his widdle paws in the air and showing his pokka-dotted fuzzy tummy while he does a bad impression of a stripper writhing on the floor.

I cooed love words then wandered off to eat some yogurt and read the morning paper. He trailed after me, still lovesick, then sat next to my chair all blinky eyed and trying to be too cute to bear.

I knew what he wanted.

Recently he’s started (trying) to cultivate a new morning ritual. Where I sit at the kitchen table and he gets to sit in my chair with me, he in front with his chin resting on the table. The perfect place for him to get lots of kisses and pets while I get covered in orange cat hair and drool.

So I steeled my heart, continued eating and reading.

Meanwhile, the cat went into high gear with the blinking and the oozing of love and unbearable cuteness. He started gumming my toe.

So I caved, the cat jumped up and I got covered in fur and drool drops. I called him my Enki-doo be doo.

To which the husband replied with :

To be or not to be. ? Shakespeare.
To be is to do. ? Hegel.
To do is to be. ? Marx.
Do be do be do. ? Sinatra.

Great Music with Radiofree Wohlman

I love listening to music while doing post processing work. Since I shoot in RAW and am addicted to my digital toolbox, I’ll often spend hours seeing what I can create from basic shots.

This isn’t mindless batch processing so I like my music to be interesting and creatively stimulating. Last week Brad Kava’s blurb in the SJMerc turned me on to the goldmine that is Radiofree Wohlman.

Just about everyday he puts out a podcast of unique, eclectic, fun and downright amazing stuff I’ve more than likely never heard of before. The music is often culled from his extensive “archives” but the way he constructs his playlists, everything always sounds fresh, vibrant and modern.

It’s probably not for everyone but if you love great music, check him out!

And since I’m always interested in good new music let me know what you listen to while working on creative projects.

I’m, ehem, all ears.

Viewing RAW in Windows Explorer

For those of you that shoot in RAW and run Windows XP, check out Microsoft’s RAW Thumbnailer & Viewer from the Microsoft XP Powertools site.

The XP shell extension simplifies life by letting you view RAW files as thumbnails right in Windows Explorer without requiring you to open a separate app.

The current version (v1.0 build 50) added support for the Canon EOS 5D, Nikon D50, D70s, among others - but check their documentation to ensure yours is on the list.

In a Blog Fog

Let’s be honest here.

I’ve been in a bit of the doldrums recently. My happy travel bubble has burst and though I know I harbor the scraps of peace, iki, perspective or what have you here and there inside of me, I feel more of the desperation of losing them which, paradoxically, makes them feel even more elusive.

To augment my frustrations, I haven’t taken any real photos to speak of since returning home.
